New LCA's
I've obtained some new lower control arms for my Camaro.
The old non-adjustables weren't cutting it anymore. I've got a vibration and the wheels aren't centered front-to-back, so I went with these: 1982 - 2002 GM F-Body Tubular Adjustable Lower Control Arms [2016] - $169.99 : UMI Performance, Inc. They are adjustable and have a poly bushing on the body end and a QA1 rod-end on the axle side. I hope to install them tomorrow. Results/opinions will be posted. We need to change this forum's title to "Camaro 4th and 5th Gen", or "Camaro 93-02; 2010-up" Just sayin', since I'm here and all.

Got around to installing them today, working in-between rainstorms.
![]() Here's the old BMR after-market arms compared to the nice new UMI arms. ![]() Here's the UMI arms mounted on the car: ![]() Took it down the road, and I never got to get over 60 mph, but the vibration seems greatly reduced. The car feels plenty solid in the rear now, and the wheels came forward 5/8" on both sides, which means they're just about perfectly centered. I didn't hear any of the "metal-to-metal" noise that rod-end LCA's are supposed to be famous for, but these are high-quality rod-ends, and I made sure everything was torqued to spec. They are a little harsher over bumps than the old poly/poly arms though. All in all, a good product, and I approve. I'll know more about the vibration after my trip on the interstate to work tomorrow. I'm sure I'll need to replace the tailshaft bushing ( again, *sigh* ) to get the full effect. The reason I was getting a vibration is that the front driveshaft yoke wasn't far enough into the transmission tailshaft, creating a wobble and eating the bushing up. The way I figured it out was, I replaced the bushing, which made the vibration stop. The vibration came back when the wobble wore the bushing and seal out, causing another leak. I had chased this vibration for years before I figured out the cause.

Looks like you will be riding without that annoying vibration now.
